A seminar on Project Management was held in Astana

Astana - On May 24-25, 2018 a two-day seminar-training on Project Management for the staff of the Justice Academy under the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Astana. The conference was organized by the EU Project "Enhancing Criminal Justice in Kazakhstan"(EUCJ).

The seminar was opened by the speech from the dean of the Academy Tolesh Kaudyrov. Vice-rector Nasiya Razzak, scientist-secretary Kanatov Almas, directors of  postgraduate education institutes, as well as heads of scientific centres and departments at the Academy participated in the event.

The seminar was devoted to the discussion of project management issues - the practice of applying knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to achieve success in the project. On the first day, a number of lectures aimed at training and raising awareness of the Academy staff in the project management field were conducted. On the second day, the practical part of the seminar was held. Participants had the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in practice, by applying various analysis tools and strategic planning.

Nazgul Yergalieva, senior national expert of the EU project, shared her experience in issues such as project planning, critical assessment of the situation, understanding of the broad context, information analysis. She also presented effective methods of collecting and analyzing the information required for the successful achievement of the project objectives.

Fedor Golikov, an invited international expert and a consultant-trainer of the Union of Project Managers of the Republic of Kazakhstan provided information from the theoretical aspect: on drafting the project plan, structuring the project, the sequence of actions necessary for the project to succeed, and on resolution of emerging problems.

The invited guests had an opportunity to ask questions from experts about the framework of application and effectiveness of project management techniques.

The EU-funded project "Enhancing Criminal Justice in Kazakhstan" (EUCJ), is a part of “Support for Judicial Reform in Kazakhstan" programme. The Northern Ireland Organization on Co-operation (NI-CO) implements the project in partnership with the Ministry of Justice of the United Kingdom, the Probation Service of the Netherlands and the National School of Judiciary and Public Prosecution of Poland.
