The General Prosecutor Office has launched a photo exhibition about convicts, held at KAZGUU Astana, December 8, 2017. On the eve of the International Human Rights Day, the General Prosecutor Office presented the photo exhibition "Earn your freedom" at KAZGUU, dedicated to the lives of convicts who got their release through exemplary behaviour and hard work, and successfully integrated into the society.

At the II meeting of the Club of Change Professionals in Astana Bill Mather, the EUCJ Strategic Leader shared his experience of work with the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan. In 2017 the EUCJ team helped the GPO to facilitate their "Change programme" announced by Zhakyp Assanov, the General Prosecutor.

An international conference on the theme: "Kazakhstan's criminal process: ways of modernization" was held on November 10, 2017 in Burabay, Kazakhstan with the support of the European Union.

Lawyers, scientists, representatives of state bodies, public and international organizations met in Astana on November 8, 2017. They discussed the issues of impact of the next changes in the criminal process on all people involved in criminal justice; expected positive changes; risks associated with the novellas of the law draft.
Two leaders in the EUCJ project
Astana - November 1, 2017 Saule Mektepbaeva has been appointed the operational leader of the EU-funded project on enhancing the criminal justice system in Kazakhstan (EUCJ) based on the decision of the project management and with the approval of the Delegation of the European Union in Kazakhstan, as well as the international consortium. As Project Operational Leader Saule will be responsible for managing issues related to the operational activities of the project and cooperation with government agencies in the further promotion of the reform of the law enforcement system of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Bill Mather has now become the Project Strategic Leader and will focus on the strategic direction of the project including the exit strategy in October 2018. Bill and Saule will work very closely together in the final year to ensure that the project is successfully implemented and most importantly that sustainability is achieved.
