In the Karaganda region, the pilot project "Rehabilitation prison" was presented with the support of the European Union
A pilot project of the "Rehabilitation Prison" has been launched in the Karaganda region. The essence of this project is to prepare a convict to live at liberty, that is, to establish his social ties (with the family), to resolve his employment issue, the restoration of social skills, to provide psychological and medical assistance, etc. Based on the results of the project implementation, it is expected not only to reduce recidivism, but also to minimize the negative consequences arising from the execution of a sentence of imprisonment. This project will be sent to each region of the republic for further implementation.
In Astana experts reviewed the problems of ensuring the rights of suspects and accused at the pre-trial stage
Astana – On December 14, 2017, the Academy of Law Enforcement in partnership with the European Union project “Enhancing Criminal Justice in Kazakhstan” (EUCJ) held a regular session of the Criminological Forum on "Suspect and Accused: Are Their Rights Really Protected?"
The meeting was held at the Eurasian National University named after LN Gumilev. The session was devoted to the problems of ensuring the rights of citizens involved in the criminal prosecution. Deputies of the Parliament, heads of law enforcement bodies, representatives of the scientific and legal community, non-governmental organizations, international and national experts took part in the discussion of topical issues on the agenda.
